What is a Bay Window?

A family gathering.
What is a bay window? A bay window is a group of windows that extend out beyond the exterior wall. Generally it has a larger center fixed window with two side windows called flankers. That is the common style yet we have installed many different variations.

Bay windows can have a dramatic effect on the exterior appearance of a home creating an interesting focal point. Many folks though install a bay window in their dining or breakfast-nook, facing the rear of the house, to open up and give more light and depth to a room. I remember a lady who wanted more flat surface in her dining room when the kids and grand-kids came over for meals.
